Wawa is rapidly building new stores on the Jersey Shore. One of the new locations will be built on a historic site.

Glory’s Market has been a Jackson mainstay at the corner of Cedar Swamp Rd. And Route 526 since 1973. It didn’t matter if you were a shopper, this market was a landmark. For me, when I was a kid, when you saw Glory’s through the car window, that meant you were finally getting closer to Great Adventure.
It is ideally located, just off Exit 21 of 195 and at a very busy intersection.
There’s also a ton of unused real estate behind Glory that had been used primarily for truckers to park overnight.
Jackson Township has given developers the green light to build a new Wawa with a gas station as well as a liquor store, pharmacy, and retail space that have yet to be named.
Here is the plan.
Not all residents agree with this plan. There are quite a few accidents at this crossroads. In 2018, a truck entered Glory’s Market to demolish it. Now there will be gas pumps on the premises. However, from the look of the planning board mockup, the Wawa appears to be quite set back.
Residents are also concerned about the environmental impact of this new construction. The gas pumps will be very close to a stream.
There is no timeline for when this new venture will be completed.
Once built, this new Wawa will become Jackson’s number five.
