BYD won its first order from Barcelona for 25 12-meter eBus.
The order follows the success of a public tender aimed at phasing out diesel in the Spanish city.
The city tested an eBus in 2020, with positive feedback. The new EV buses will enter service in Catalonia between 2022 and 2024.
All will have a pantograph mounted on the roof for the “opportunity recharge” at the depot.
The buses will be built in Hungary and will feature the latest 442 kWh iron phosphate battery with increased energy density for longer range and lifespan.
A single charge provides a range of 400 km under standardized road test conditions (SORT II).
