Fire casings shops at Lagos market

A fire destroyed shops at the popular Ladipo Market in Oshodi, Lagos on Wednesday.

The Acting Coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, said the fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday at No. 137 Ladipo Market, Matori.

The official said the affected building housed seven stores, four apartments and five households.

The fire was reportedly caused by goods such as engine oil and gas stored in the affected stores.

“It was found that gas for vehicle air conditioning, engine oil, paint, car stereo systems, car accessories are sold in empty stores.

“So far, no information on a trapped person, no civilian has been injured except for one responder who was injured by the fragments of the explosion. EOD Police, Federal State and LRU Fire Departments are responding, ”Mr. Farinloye said.
