Why we love the 2022 BMW X2

BMW and its range of vehicles bearing the X badge has a long history. Considered one of the top five German automakers, BMW is a frequent choice of customers, as is its X range. What makes this range very popular is the fact that everyone can find an SUV to their liking, which he is looking for large, mid-size or compact vehicles.

In the compact class, the X1 and X2 attract the most attention. While the former is the preferred choice for those looking for a traditional type SUV with a rugged shape, the latter is preferred by customers who prefer the modern and sporty design. Accordingly, BMW is marketing the X1 as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and the X2 as a Sports Activity Coupé (SAC).

The coupe-styled BMW X2 is a beautiful car that’s been around since 2016, and we’ve come to love it over the years. BMW has been working on upgrading this attractive vehicle, and he did a great jobespecially in 2022.

Yes, we know the 2023 BMW X2 is also here. But we want to pause and share with you why we love the 2022 BMW X2 and why this SAC is a great choice for anyone looking for a sporty, compact crossover.

The 2022 BMW X2 is fun to drive and offers excellent handling

The first and foremost reason we love the 2022 BMW X2 is handling. This vehicle is super fun and easy to drive, especially on the twisty roads where the X2 shines.

There are three versions to choose from when you opt for the 2022 BMW X2. We’d call the base models sDrive28i and xDrive28i because the M35i offers the most power of the three. Luckily, all options come paired with an 8-speed manual transmission and front or all-wheel drive.

Under the hood of the two standard versions of the 2022 BMW X2 is a 228 horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine. Of course, our favorite is the top trim. The 2022 BMW X2 M35i features a more powerful four-cylinder turbo engine that produces 302 horsepower. It’s more expensive, that’s for sure, but the responsiveness is worth it.

Overall, the engine in all X2 versions is admirably smooth and capable of making every ride enjoyable. But the M35i is simply more exciting with its lively and nimble nature.

Now, it’s true that the 2022 BMW X2 is pretty stiff, and you won’t feel sedan-like comfort (or a large SUV, for that matter) when driving it. The X2 doesn’t handle bumpy terrain and off-road adventures well. Yet, since the trade-off is admirable performance and handling, we’re all willing to compromise.

The exterior of the 2022 BMW X2 is sporty and attractive

As we mentioned, the X1 and X2 both belong to the compact SUV category and look similar, but they also have some important differences. Simply put, the 2022 BMW X2 is more like a hot hatch in terms of performance and styling, offering a sloping roof and slightly softer, rounded lines.

Compared to the previous production year, the 2022 BMW X2 doesn’t offer many changes – unless you consider the paint job a big update. But the X2 didn’t really need flashy transformations in the first place. This SAC was a great catch early on with its sporty and sleek exterior.

Moreover, you can choose between several colors to make it more attractive and add many costume accessories, but be aware that you will need a big budget. The 2022 BMW X2 doesn’t come cheap, especially when you get carried away with the buildup.

The 2022 BMW X2 is neat and comfortable inside despite some downsides

The interior of the 2022 BMW X2 isn’t quite as exciting as the exterior, but the colorful outline makes that inconvenience less of a nuisance. What we like about the cabin is the quality of the materials. With an excellent driving position, padded seats, quality leather and many practical technical features, the 2022 BMW X2 gives you everything you need for an enjoyable drive.

Well, except for Android Auto compatibility and supreme cargo space – although the latter is expected from a hatchback-like SUV that focuses more on performance and fun than comfort. Overall, the 2022 BMW X2 offers all common safety features, an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay connectivity, a seven-speaker audio system and much more. . You can also play while building and add advanced features.

So if you need more space with your new SUV for passengers and belongings, the X1 is a better choice. But if you’re okay with trading limited space for performance, the X2 won’t disappoint.
